Egermann: Concentric
19th Century spaced concentric from the Friedrich Egermann workshop in Haida, North Bohemia. Intricate millefiori canes including a central cluster of red/blue/white canes around a red cog. The 2 rows are composed of white cogs and maroon/white cogs alternating with 12-tooth cobalt-blue cogs. All the cog canes are filled with blue, white, green and pink whorls, tubes, rods & stars. (For similar examples see Peter von Brackel’s book “Classic Paperweights from Silesia/Bohemia” pages 222/223). The centre cog cane extends - mushroom like - to the clear base.
A wide basal rim - showing the usual signs of wear - surrounds the small, polished central concavity. The glass has a bluish-grey tint.
