Although only slightly larger than a miniature, this low-domed classical weight - from the Josephine glassworks in the Silesian Riesengebirge region - contains 17 millefiori canes scattered over white upset muslin. There are 4 silhouettes: 2 blue fat foals, a red hare and a white monkey. There are also 2 arrow canes; blue & white and yellow/white & red. (For the silhouettes see “Classic Paperweights from Silesia/Bohemia” by Peter von Brackel, pages 68,69 & 70; arrow canes, page 74). Although some of the millefiori canes have slipped slightly to the side, this is still a nice little weight. The top has been polished - possibly to remove some damage - but the base still has a relatively wide basal rim and central concavity.
