Important Bigaglia- Signed & Dated
This cone-shaped weight is notable because, in addition to the (reversed) PoB 1845 date cane, it contains whole and partial Franchini canes and approx. 40 silhouettes; including a dancing figure (Arlecchino ?), 2 lyres as well as numerous dogs, horses, ducks and pairs of birds. There are also a number of flower portraits (roses ?) in both red and pink.
The silhouettes are crude in comparison with Silesian/Bohemian and Baccarat silhouettes, which were introduced a couple of years later, but these, presumably, were some of the earliest silhouettes that Bigaglia incorporated in his weights.
