Quadrant Design (2005)
A beautiful panelled paperweight - a popular design in antique St. Louis weights. Blue tubes with fine latticinio threads wrapped around them - lined on either side by white cogs - meet at a complex centre cane, dividing the weight into 4 quadrants. Each panel is packed with a variety of complex canes, ruffles, cogs, stars with one common feature - a 3-layer pale-pink camomile around a complex “stamen”. The set-up is enclosed in blue-lined, white cogs, which are drawn underneath to form a basket.
There is a “B” signature cane in one quadrant and the weight is scratch-signed and dated on the flat, polished base: Jim Brown 2005
