A 3 layer compound weight depicting life in and above a pond. In the water is a trout, its body enhanced with red aventurine and colourful markings. On the green-speckled surface of the pond are 3 pink & yellow water lilies and flitting above it is a red-bodied mayfly with spiralling latticinio wings, black antennae and hair-like tails.
Acid-etched on the flat, polished base is: Caithness, Trout and Mayfly, Scotland. The base is also scratch numbered 14/100. The original certificate states that the weight was designed by Colin Terris and made by William Manson.
