1976 Clematis with Torsade (Prototype?)
Probably made as a prototype for a new edition, this attractive design is not illustrated in Gérard Ingold’s book “The Art of the Paperweight - St. Louis”. However, it does contain an SL1976 date cane at the centre of the pale-lemon, 10-petalled flower borne on a short stem with 3 dark-green ruffled leaves - very much in the style of antique St. Louis flowers. Set over a two-tone (teal and turquoise) ground, the flower is encircled by a spiralling pale-pink & white latticinio torsade.
The weight is cut with a top and 6 side facets. The polished base has a wide basal rim around the concave centre.
