A mid-size, domed weight, which, although neither signed nor dated, must have been made as a “trial” for the “leaf canes” in the 1979 Christmas weight - The Partridge in a Pear Tree. The variously-sized leaves each contain between approx. 40 and 60 tiny corrugated rods in various shades of green. Set over an opaque black ground. The underside shows the typical Whitefriars base - with an indentation between the button and encasing crystal. Here though, the encasement stops a little short and the weight actually sits on the rim of the polished, concave black button.
