Red/white Basket (Scratch-signed)
One of the more rarely seen Ysart designs; floating in a basket of white latticinio tubes alternating with red/white cog canes are 2 concentric rows of pink, white, pale-orange & green complex millefiori canes set around a burgundy, white & yellow centre cog cane. The latticinio and red cogs are drawn under the design and meet at a small pontil mark in the fire-polished base.
Scratch-signed on the base of the basket: P.Ysart. The glass is clear and the design attributed to the 1960s Caithness period.
(See page 133 in Colin Mahoney’s book “Masterworks: The Paperweights of Paul Ysart” for a similar - unsigned - example).
