Star on “Marbleized” Ground

Star on “Marbleized” Ground
A millefiori star on a most unusual ground - a “marbleized” translucent amber surface that merges into amber/white jasper on the underside. Another interesting feature: the complex canes spaced between the points of the star: green & white tubes surrounded by upright orange/red rods. Orange/white/black cogs and blue/white/green corrugated canes form the 6 points of the star. The centre is filled with a row of alternating red & white canes enclosing a large, 8-point yellow star on a black plaque.
The glass has a distinct grey tint. Flat, fire-polished base with a rough pontil. Most likely an example of the artist’s work from the pre-1940 Moncrieff period.
